Life is a muscle!

Day 9

Everyone, sooner or later, asks the question, “What makes life tick”. We, too, have pondered this thought, over and over, for years. In fact, we have done some rather extensive research to determine, not only, the cause and origin of life, but also the mechanics involved, and have discovered some very interesting results.

Let us begin by stating that we are not, and do not claim to be, experts in this field but, we have discovered some truths that you may find fascinating.

Without going into a lot of detail, (because everything we discovered can be researched in the Bible and online), we have come to the conclusion that life, as we know it, functions as a muscle.

Muscle – anything that has a beginning, an ability to grow and learn and develop, as well as the ability to reproduce and to die, functions as a muscle.

Think about it. Absolutely every part of your body has the ability to Flex (stretch & grow) and can be exercised to make it work more efficiently and, with proper nutrition, can function even better and last longer. This holds true for the brain as well, the more you use it, the more you stimulate it. With new and varying challenges, the better it performs.

Taking this a little further; all biological creatures, which includes plants, animals, viruses, air, basically anything that has the ability to reproduce and die, must, by it’s very nature, function as a muscle.

Let us take it a step further yet; an idea, an organization, a thought, a business, anything that has a beginning, an ability to grow and learn and develop, as well as the ability to reproduce and to die, functions as a muscle.

Whether or not you agree, this is something that we have discovered to be true and unchanging. Situations will change, that’s life; a saying that I’m sure you must be familiar with, simply indicates the truth of life flexing a muscle.

When you were born, in fact, long before that, while you were developing in your mother’s womb, you had no choice but to flex every fiber of your being in order to become a child, who would be prepared to function in this world. After you were born, it became necessary to flex a whole lot more muscles, in order to learn how to cope in this life, not the least of which was your brain.

You may or may not be aware of the fact that a new born baby does more than 50% of it’s learning in the first week or 2 of life after birth, and over 85% by the time it reaches 2 years of age. The truth of the matter is that by the age of 2 a child has already developed most of it’s habits and attitudes and has already determined who or what they will become. They may not completely be aware of all this for many years but, by the time they choose to decide, they will be basing that decision on the guidance and direction and attention they received as a baby.

Having said that, we need to point out that, there is still 15% left for future learning and development. The sad thing is that most of us only develop an additional 5% during the remainder of our lives. Why do you suppose that is? We believe that society tends to lull us into a state of complacency with stimuli that keeps us satiated enough that we feel there is no need to grow or develop because everything is provided for us. We have all the entertainment we can handle; we have global communication at the push of a button, what more do we need?

Life is designed to function as a muscle; you go to the gym and exercise your body, which is a good thing; we also need to exercise our minds by reading, thinking, planning, and learning. BUT…

There is another muscle that needs to be exercised, which can (at times for some) be equally tough, and that is our social muscle. The ability to communicate with others; be it on a one to one scale or standing in front of large crowds of people, or even more difficult, showing genuine compassion for someone who is down on his luck (so to speak), unable to find a way out of the hole they dug themselves into. Many times we justify ourselves by saying something like, “they made their bed, let them lie in it”, or, “it serves them right”, but you don’t know what caused their dilemma; I’m sure no one wants to be in that condition.

People invariably make mistakes, they make poor choices, and if you think you have never done that, I beg to differ because none of us is perfect. If you think they could have done something to prevent it, or tried to find a way out, then you have probably always had someone there to help, and that’s great. It really is and we are genuinely happy for you. I wish everyone could have what you have, but you know what, life isn’t like that.

Some people do not want help, some are beyond help, but there are people who want and need help but are unable to figure out how to get it. They just need someone to reach in and be a friend and help them along, until they can make it on their own, just like your parents did when you were a baby and needed your diaper changed.

Perhaps you are one of these people; if so, the following posts will show you how to change all that and become the person God designed you to be. If you don’t think you are one of these people, then you are in the best possible position to help those who are and become the person that God designed you to be. In either case, we have an assignment for you. All along we have been telling you that you need to work smarter, not harder. So, in the following posts, we will show you exactly how to do that; meanwhile, let’s not forget about the power of 2 (sometimes referred to as “duplication”).

You need to exercise your compassion muscle and help someone who needs it. They aren’t hard to find, if you look close. You may notice them return your gaze with a sad glint in their eye that indicates the lights are still on inside but they’ve lost their way. They may be reluctant, at first, because they’ve been hurt a lot, but give it time, be a friend and, in due season, you will see fruit, and the rewards are far greater than money can buy.

Stay with the plan, even if it doesn’t make complete sense at first, because this plan works. It has always worked for everyone who stayed with the plan. Some people started the plan and dropped it because they didn’t see results quite as fast as they had hoped to.  If they had stuck it out for a little while longer, the results they were hoping for would have been theirs.

So, the ball is in your court, take a deep breath, say a prayer of faith and relax, all the hard stuff has been done for you, simply carry the ball to the end zone and if you drop it, pick it up and keep going. REMEMBER, we are here to help you every step of the way but you are the only one that can run this race; but you are not alone.

Speaking of the plan, I do believe we are at the $5.11 mark and by now, having doubled our previous amount, our next goal is to find $5.12 to add to the collection. And now that we are starting to see some serious change, We want you to prepare for a financial challenge next time… no, we are not going to ask you to buy something or send us any money, but we want you to think about everything we said, in this post, and be prepared to flex a muscle.

Catch ya on the flip side.
