Day 19

For anyone just joining in, please read the entire Blog, starting with Our Story.

Can you believe it?! Today we exceed the $5,000 mark. Remember, in the beginning, when it took us a whole 7 days to reach a dollar, using this plan. We have definitely advanced beyond counting pennies, in fact, we hardly notice them now. With today’s addition of $2,621.44, our total is now $5,242.87 and we’re only 19 days into the program. With only 11 more days to go, and at this rate of increase, after 30 days, your collection will be astounding!

To put it another way, if you were counting the number of people that you have influenced and led to Christ, using this plan, you would have 524,288 friends or conversions; that is over half a million people brought to Christ, it staggers the imagination to think of the possibility. Remember, that we suggested the normal conversion rate to take about 6 months, given all the information provided here, it would take 9 1/2 years to lead half a million people to Salvation in Christ. I find myself reflecting on the last 10 years and wondering how many people have come to Christ, because of my influence. It would be impossible to know, for sure, because we share a Word here and there, do a good deed in the Name of the Lord, as well as teaching (like this, in Bible studies, etc.) and the Bible tells us, one plants another waters but God gives the increase.

We titled this post, “SELF TEST”, because we feel it important, for each of us, to take stock of ourselves and not to judge others, because the Word says that, if we judge others, we are in danger of being judged ourselves. We know, from past experience, how hurtful judging can be so, we try not to judge anyone. It is our desire to help as many people as possible to get the most out of life that they can, and that can only be accomplished by complete submission to God and His way of doing things.

The Bible tells us, in the New Testament, in the first book of Timothy, that we are to study to show ourselves approved, a workman that need not be ashamed; in other words, we are to take it upon ourselves to study God’s Word, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and learn as much as possible, so we can share the knowledge of God with everyone we come in contact with, and live a Godly life, so that those who see us, may be drawn to God because of the way we behave.

We believe, it is important for each one of us to examine how we live, the words we speak, the actions we perform and the attitudes we project, so that we can see, for ourselves, how the world around us sees us. You ask the question,” Does that make me my brother’s keeper?”, and our response to that is YES.

The world is watching you, especially when you proclaim to be a Christian or a teacher or a leader in any manner; they will watch and they will judge and, whether or not they decide to have anything to do with what you are proclaiming, will be greatly influenced by the way in which they perceive YOU!

You must understand that the world, at large, is very skeptical and not easily influenced and will judge you long before you even begin to speak. You also need to be aware of another fact, which someone coined into a phrase that, I believe, sums it up in a nutshell; and that is…

You cannot win people by preaching at them and pointing out their flaws; they already know what’s wrong; they also know what’s wrong with you, and will likely tell you, or just walk away and warn others to stay away from you. You want to win people into the Kingdom? You need to show them that you genuinely care about them and their concerns.

A starving, homeless person only wants food and a warm bed, not a lecture. I know it’s next to impossible for any of us to help everyone, but as we said before, start with one and then, with the help of that one, go out and help two and so on.

I heard a story, about a man walking along the seashore and, he noticed that there were thousands of starfish washed up on the shore, he then noticed a woman picking up starfish, one at a time, and tossing them back into the ocean. He approached the woman and commented on how futile her attempt was, because she could never save all of them. Without missing a beat, the woman continued her daunting task but retorted to the man, “maybe not, but it made a difference to this one”, and continued on to the next. The man was so amazed at what he was witnessing that he felt compelled to join her in this task and, before long, other people began noticing what was happening and pitched in as well.

Did they save all the starfish? Of course not, many died on shore before they could even get to them, but the ones they were able to save, would have a chance at a normal life. The point is, you can’t save everyone and, it isn’t your job, that job belongs to God. Your job is to make the effort to share what you know (even if it isn’t much – let God fill in the blanks) and let people see God in, and through, your life.

It may seem, to some, that we’re playing with numbers here, but let us assure you that, when you operate by God’s principles, and truly believe, these numbers will become reality, you will see many come to Christ and, you will see your finances grow, after all, it takes money to promote the Gospel.

So until next time, do your homework (self test) and we’ll catch ya on the flip side!

Once you break free of the habit of judging people, which is basically what people do all day long. You can be free to love them as God loves.
I was a long time a mega judge of others, only because I felt un loved and insecure myself. The love of Jesus changes all that because you are loved and as you are…..quite a confidence boost. It changes your life and in turn, the lives of others……
